SIAM855 login: the sign-in sequence, and what to check on the way

The sign-in sequence from opening a page to reaching an account, what to check at each step, and what to do when it will not let you in — without going looking for a link from somewhere else.

The first thing worth knowing about the page you are reading is that this site has no password field on it anywhere. Every account control here opens our own explanatory page first, and from there a single button hands you over to the account platform when you are ready. Keeping the two apart is deliberate: it makes it obvious which page you are leaving, and where you are going.

The sequence

Five steps from a web page to an account

Each step has its own thing to verify. If one does not pass, stop there rather than pressing on.

  1. Open the page from your own saved link

Always start from your own bookmark. If you have not made one yet, verify the address using the access guide first, then save it.

  2. Re-read the address bar before touching anything

Read the part before the first slash once more. It takes seconds, and it is the step people skip most often.

  3. Use the account control on the page

The control opens our own explanatory page. That page tells you where the hand-off goes, and carries one button.

  4. Enter details only on the account platform

Every field lives on the account platform, not on this site. Check that page's address too before you type.

  5. Make your own note

Note the date and time and anything that matters on your side, so you are not relying later on a screen that may have changed.

Safety

What never to hand over, whoever is asking

Your password

No support team needs your password in order to help you. If somebody asks for it, treat that as the answer to the question of who they are.

A one-time code sent to your device

That code exists for you to enter on the page you already have open. Passing it to anyone else is handing over the key.

Full banking details

Do not send an account number, a photograph of a card, or the code on its back through any chat channel, however official it looks.

A link you did not ask for

A link arriving with a message telling you to hurry is the commonest shape an imitation page takes. Go back to your own bookmark instead.

Ready to go in?

Both controls open our own explanatory pages first. Those pages contain no fields at all — an explanation and one button.
